Olive Stats- 6 months

Olive is now 16 lbs. 15 oz. (75th percentile) and 26.25 inches long (75th percentile).  Her head circumference was also 75th percentile. :)  This month Olive learned to sit up and she started eating solid foods!  So far her favorites are sweet potatoes and bananas.  She loves sitting up because she can grab everything around her and watch Hannah better.  Hannah is Olive's favorite person.  She squeals in delight whenever Hannah talks to her.  She is still a great sleeper- 10 hours a night plus 2 big naps during the day.  She sleeps on her side sucking her thumb, but she is usually on her stomach by morning.  And I think she's finally growing some hair!  We love our Baby O!!

Miner Weekend

"I've been to every Miner since my freshman year of college...except last year."- Steve Kerr

Miner is the only home cross country meet at Rolla and the alumni all come back and run in it, too.  Steve goes to it every year, but I've only been a couple times since college.  I think his heart broke a little last year when he couldn't attend due to a conference for work.  So this year he begged and pleaded to get everyone to go back for Miner so it would be really fun.  And we did- us, the McGuires, the Baileys, the Vroomans, and Walter.  And we had a blast.  While we were gone the girls were with Granny and Great Aunt Peggy and they had a great time, too.

Jane and I were on "mom duty" (lugging all the cameras/bags/water bottles around) while everyone else ran.  We passed the time taking stupid pictures of each other...mostly on Walter's camera.  He should have known better than to give it to us.  He ended up with about 300 pictures.

It was a BEAUTIFUL day and it brought back a lot of memories of being at Miner when I was in college.  Man, I feel old.  Steve did really well and came in first of all the alumni.  He had been training for a few months, just to beat Taco in the race.

In the afternoon Steve, Walter, and another alumni went on a bike ride.  Steve was actually more excited about the bike ride than the race.  He really misses biking around Rolla.  That was one of his favorite things to do in college.  Kansas scenery just isn't the same. :)

The rest of us went to Three Squirrels Winery, which also had some beautiful scenery.

Then that night Wendy and I partnered up to dominate at shuffle board.  We won five straight games!  

The next morning we met up for breakfast at Cookin' From Scratch and this amazing car was parked outside.

We can't wait until next year!

Walter and the Girls

ABCs

I found this old video from the summer.  Hannah has been able to sing her ABCs for awhile, but when I tried to get a video of it she made a mistake and was very disappointed.

Cousins

Susan and Ainslyn stayed with us the first weekend in October.  The girls had SO MUCH fun together!  They giggled constantly.  Ainslyn slept in Hannah's room and they stayed up late talking.

  

Steve build this Pipeworks fort for them, but they preferred to use it as a jungle gym. 

 

We took them to Antioch Park and fed the ducks and geese.

This is right before Ainslyn fell in, but it isn't very deep.  She just got the bottoms of her pants wet.

 

We also took a beautiful drive to Lawrence to see the Natural History Museum.

Did I mention Olive learned to sit? Did I mention we call her Miss Chubby Cheeks?

First Solids

Olive had her first taste of solid food at 5 1/2 months. She was not a fan at first.

Overland Park Fall Festival

I talked Steve into going to another fall festival!  We saw Ollie and Lolo there and Hannah hitched a ride in the stroller. We were a little late and missed the puppet show, but she got to dance to Dino O'Dell and the Veloci-rappers.  Then she asked repeatedly to do the bouncy house. We relented and stood in a huge line. She loved every second of the bouncing even falling flat on her face and she left with minimal tears.
