Great-grandpa's 87th Birthday

A day after getting back from St. Louis, we were off to Chillicothe for Great-grandpa's birthday.

We visited Granny and Papa on Sunday and Ainslyn was spending the weekend with them.


Steve gave the girls a motorcycle ride down his parents' driveway.
 

Olive said she wanted a ride too after she saw Hannah do it.
 

 

McWeek

Steve had to work in St. Louis in the middle of week.  As usual, he asked the McGuires if he could stay with them when Jane asked why we weren't coming, too.  Oh yeah...I'm not working, the girls aren't in preschool....why AREN'T we coming?!  I love not being tied down by anything!  So off we all went.  As usual it was a great time.  The kids love playing together and I introduced Jane to Candy Crush. :)

First adventure while the guys were at work: St. Louis Zoo.  My favorite things were the butterfly house and penguins.  Hannah liked the flamingos and the train.  Olive said the owl.  Of course.

After naps we played in the backyard.  This really shows off Colin's mohawk.

Father's Day Weekend

 Once a month the zoo puts on a Cheetah Run.  They set up a track with a rabbit-shaped lure for them to chase.  They did...a little bit.  It was underwhelming.  But any day at the zoo is fun.  It was a good family activity for Father's Day weekend.  Steve always does the Corporate Challenge duathlon on Father's Day (his favorite event).  The only other thing he requested was a nap.  :)

9th Anniversary

After 13 years together and 9 years of marriage...we still love each other.  I think I'll keep him.  He fixes everything around the house, plays with the kids, and laughs at my jokes.  And we have just as much fun together as we did on our first date.  On June 12 (yes, I must do something on the actual day) we went to J. Gilberts and had the best food I have ever tasted.  Seriously.  Even the bread was a amazing.  Then we saw Catch Me if You Can at Starlight.  Awesome night.

 

 

 

 

Corporate Challenge

It's Corporate Challenge time again!  Steve is the Corporate Challenge coordinator for his company, so he is even busier than usual this year.  He always does track week events like 400m, 800m, mile, distance medley relay.  This year he was doing things like 100m, long jump, shot put, too.  Here are the girls watching his 400m.  Steve is waiting to race behind them.  It was pretty cute hearing them yell "Go, Dada, go!"

 

 

This year he also had a soccer week that was similar to track week with games every night.  His team placed 3rd.

And then there is a bike race, half marathon, 5k, bowling, duathlon, swimming, and tug-of-war.  It's a busy time!  Of course Hannah is super excited about everything and has made up her own "Kids Corporate Challenge" events at home.  She comes in first every time because Olive won't compete.

First Friday and Wedding

Granny took the girls so we could go to a wedding in Columbia.  I realized it was our first weekend without kids since Valentine's Day.  It feels weird when they are gone but I am at home.  I am surrounded by toys and yet there is no screaming.  Luckily, I was only home alone for a few hours.  We went to First Fridays- one of my favorite things in KC but we haven't gone since before we had kids.  Art galleries are open late and there are a bunch of people out in the street.  Like these guys.  I was too intimidated to touch Darth Vader, obviously.

And then Saturday we were in Columbia for Kurt and Suzanne's wedding.  Kurt was a runner in Rolla and did the MR 340 at the same time as Steve.
 

Their story is a lot like ours: same high school, but they didn't date until they were at separate colleges.  They even had a tandem bicycle in their engagement pictures and to hold the seating cards.
