Olive's 2nd Birthday

Olive turned 2 on April 14.  We had a little owl party at our house.

Olive picked out what she wanted to wear to the party, which was the same dress Hannah wore to her 2nd birthday party.  She decided to sit in the bumbo to open gifts.  It went very sloooowly.

She was very excited to open Apple Jack.  It is the only My Little Pony that she knows.  She learned the name off of Hannah's valentines.  Anytime someone mentions My Little Pony Olive says "Ap-pa Ja!"

Our gift was the basketball goal.  Both girls became interested in basketball after March Madness week at preschool.

I wanted to make cupcakes, but Steve talked me into a Costco cake.  Olive picked out the caterpillar.

I thought it would be funny to do random poses while Steve was testing the continuous shooting on the camera.  My father-in-law said, "Put that on the blog."  And here we are.

back row: Olive (2), Aunt Marissa, Uncle Justin, Grandpa, Papa, Dada

And now we can all comment about who looks like whom.  Is that the correct usage?  I'll go first.  Both guys look just like their dads.

McWeekend

The McGuires were in town so Taco could run Brew-to-Brew with the UMR Alumni team.  Steve has been running it since 2006.  It's a race from Boulevard Brewery in KC to Free State Brewery in Lawrence, KS.  They won!  And looked super classy doing it. ;)

Friday night was an awesome game night playing Cards Against Humanity.  It's Apples to Apples only better.  I'm in love. Then Saturday we went to Deanna Rose Farmstead on its opening day.  It turned out to be SUPER windy.  We only saw about half of it before the wind and cranky kids made us head out for lunch.  We still had a good time pedaling tractors, riding horses, fishing (with worms!), and seeing the goats.  I caught almost everyone in this picture:

Hannah has become very opinionated about her clothes.  That's her in the polkadot tights, dress shoes, and zebra coat...

Olive is very unsure of the goats

These girls love school

After naptime we took advantage of the wind and flew kites at Leawood Park.

Cuteness at Antioch Park on Sunday.

And not cute at all.  Yes, that's my kid throwing a tantrum.  Why?  Something about not getting to walk on the rails.  It's hard to understand a sobbing toddler writhing on the ground.

As Jane said- it was the first McKerr weekend in awhile without vomit.  Always a good thing. :)

April Showers

Olive doesn't have a raincoat, so she wore her winter coat.  I didn't think she would be outside for long anyway because she usually doesn't like messy things.  But she loved splashing in the puddles.  And she even touched some worms!!  Maybe she'll turn into a nature girl yet!

Science Night

Hannah was all excited to touch a tarantula at Science Night.  Last year she was too scared, but she did it two years ago.  Unfortunately, there weren't any spiders this year.  She touched a snake, turtle, bird, gecko, lizard, ferret, and her favorite: a bunny.  Olive's favorite was also the bunny.

Easter 2013

We spent Easter weekend in KC this year.  The girls didn't have preschool on Friday or Monday.  Granny babysat Friday and Grandma and Grandpa took Monday.

Notice Hannah changed out of her church dress for the egg hunt in our backyard.  I'm not sure what was wrong with the first dress.  She is beginning to have some serious fashion opinions.  The girls also did a egg hunt at their preschool the day before and I took lots of pictures...without a memory card.  It was a shame because I had a "picture" of Caleb.

Then we went to Leawood Park for some bike riding.
