KC Dance Day

Hannah and I had a mother-daughter date at KC Dance Day.  The Ballet gives free dance classes to kids and adults.  Hannah was SUPER excited about going.  She had her outfit picked out the night before.  She took two classes (pre-ballet and creative movement) and we watched two performances.  She loved every minute.  Olive chose biking at Roe Park for her special Dada activity.

Family Bike Ride

We dug out the bike trailer to do a 20 mile bike ride on the Indian Creek Trail.  They built more on since the last time we went.  The girls had a great time eating snacks and drawing.  We also took breaks to eat dinner, play at a park, and throw rocks in the creek.

The end of the trail.  I didn't know if I could make it.

Kemper Museum Scavenger Hunt

We tried out the family scavenger hunt at Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art.  This month it was about sculptures.  It was shorter than I expected (only 3 sculptures), but the discussion questions were good.  And the kids each got a take home bag of clay and sculpture-making goodies.  Hannah's favorites were the Chihuly glass sculptures and least favorite was the spider.

And since we were so close, we walked around the sculpture park at Nelson-Atkins.  It was a great way to spend a Saturday morning.

Hannah's sculpture.  She calls it "Elmo."

Festival of Butterflies

I was very excited to go to the Festival of Butterflies!  It was our first time at Powell Gardens.  We haven't gone before because it is a 40 minute drive and it is a little expensive.  But it was pretty awesome and very big!  They had an indoor butterfly conservatory (very hot!) and a few outdoor butterfly breezeways.  There was also a caterpillar petting zoo.  This summer they also have Lego brick sculptures on display.

Deanna Rose

I can't believe we haven't been back to Deanna Rose since Opening Day!  This time we watched Olive the Cow get milked.

which led to some practice milking

This was our first time bottle feeding the goats.  The girls were too scared to go in the pen because the goats try to climb you or eat your clothes.

Hannah is now an expert horse rider.  Olive was mad that she wasn't old enough.
