No more pictures, but I'll continue to give some monthly updates like I did with Hannah. Looking back on that post, Olive grew up a lot faster than Hannah. She has been eating by herself for a long time. She never did eat baby food. She has been walking well for a few months and now she even runs. There are two younger babies at daycare now, and one has been there since Olive was about 7 months old.
This month she learned (with some strong resistance) how to drink out of a sippy cup. She was fine with a sippy during the day, but she only wanted a bottle before bedtime. She would yell and throw the sippy if you tried to give it to her. Finally one night she was watching a video and I gave her a sippy while she was distracted. Without thinking about it she started drinking. Tricked! Olive knows what she wants and complains loudly if she doesn't get it. We thought Hannah was strong-willed...then we met Olive.
Olive's favorite activity is eating...even if it is not food. She has been spotted with rocks, sand, crayons, and shoes in her mouth. Most recently she has taken to thumb-sucking. Two more teeth came in this month, making seven total. Her second favorite activity is picking up things and carrying them around the house. We have found the phone in the bathroom and bath toys in the kitchen. She is especially fond of getting into Hannah's underwear drawer. I think she is jealous. Olive also loves peekaboo, playing in the sandbox, and taking a bath with Hannah.

Professional Pictures
Here are Olive's 1 year pics. I want to stop doing the block pictures and do yearly family pictures outdoors. But since Hannah had 1 and 2 year block pictures, I feel like Olive should too. I try to keep it the same. The photo shoot was only a small disaster this time. Smiley Olive did not want to smile or sit still for pictures. The photographer had about 1.5 seconds to take a picture before she got up and walked away. But we got her with the 1 year block, so it was a success.

Playground Attire
Another park outfit: sleeveless shirt, heavy leggings, and ladybug wings. I made her put on a jacket.

The Claw
If you enjoyed "The Fangs", then you will love "The Claw!" It has all the high-pitched screaming of the first movie PLUS another sister. It's the best thriller of the summer! A must-see!

The Fangs
Since Olive's two front teeth are growing in, we need to take a moment to remember the fangs....

Rocking Horse
It has taken me awhile to blog about this because I had to dig out old phots. My brother and his girlfriend fixed up my old rocking horse for Hannah's 3rd birthday. My parents said it was originally a present for my 2nd birthday. All of us used it when we were kids. Justin even rode it down the stairs once. Then it sat in our basement for about 20 years and got disgusting. Justin sanded off the grime and refinished it, along with giving it new hair, reigns, and eyes.

Kite Festival
Luckily, our next family adventure turned out much better! I was SO EXCITED to go the kite festival....but there was no wind. We decided to go anyway, and miracle of miracles, it was a little windy in Lee's Summit. And the weather was absolutely beautiful. We ate a picnic lunch and then tried our hand at getting a kite in the air. Hannah was IN LOVE with kite flying. She was really good, too! She ran with it to keep it up, and she never got tangled with anyone else.
After awhile we made our way over to the children's section. They had these flags set up for the kids to run through. I think this was Olive's favorite part. Even though she got knocked over by bigger kids probably ten times, she laughed and laughed.
Olive's picture with the clown fish was in the KC Star- front page in the special "neighborhood news" section.
This is definitely on my must-do list for next year. We didn't even make it to all the booths: food, bouncy house, face painting, kite-making, etc. Eating a picnic and watching kites is my idea of a perfect Saturday. When I asked Hannah which kite was her favorite she said, "Our kite." This is funny because our kite is some old '90s thing with hot pink and turquoise splash paint on it. We need a new kite.
Then to top off my perfect Saturday, I had a girls' night with Wendy and Andrea in the River Market.
Steve had a girls' night with Hannah and Olive at home. He won Hannah over with ice cream.
