I've been meaning to take the girls on a bus ride just so they have the experience. Then I came across "JO Ride Free Day." Perfect. The JO is our bus in Johnson County, but it also travels downtown and other places in Missouri. We decided to take it to Plaza to walk by Brush Creek and check out the toy store. It was a fun morning. The girls liked waiting at bus stops the best.

My Favorite Thing
There are so many great things about being a mom. I enjoy doing all the kid-stuff with the girls like playing at the park and coloring and building with blocks. I love cuddling them and the feeling of tiny arms giving me a hug. One of the best parts of my day is reading books with a girl on each knee. But my favorite mom thing is just watching my two daughters be sisters. They melt my heart by how much they love each other.
They have different personalities and different interests. Yet, they are always willing to play each other's games. Hannah never touched the play kitchen until Olive started playing with it. Now they love to make pretend meals and go on picnics together. Olive had no interest in soccer, but now that Hannah is on a team she will kick around the ball in the backyard with her.
They bring out the best in each other. Olive is very strong willed and wants her way. But if she sees that Hannah is upset about something, she automatically gives in to her to make her happy. Hannah is competitive, but she is always willing to be Olive's cheerleader and build her up.
They love their sister-ness. They call each other their best friends. They like dressing alike. Sometimes their bond is almost twin-like. They are almost never apart. If they are going to spend the weekend away from us with the grandparents, Hannah will ask, "But Olive will be there, right?" As long as they have each other, then a piece of home is always there. When Hannah had her first sleepover on her own, Olive was lost without her in the morning.
Of course they have bad days and there are arguments and yelling and hurt feelings. They work through it. They have learned so much about sharing and getting along by having each other. I know they won't always be like this and we might have years of teenage girl fighting. But right now (on the good days) it is magic.
Hannah has been in love with Olive from day one. We got her a baby doll when Olive was born. She had no use for it. She wanted the real Olive. She helped with everything- getting diapers, giving her a bath, and keeping her entertained. Every time we left the house she would say, "Don't forget baby Olive!" She was so proud to introduce Olive to strangers as "my little sister." She still does that.
And Hannah has always been Olive's favorite person. She laughed and smiled more at Hannah than anyone else. She walked early just to keep up with her. She wanted to do everything Hannah was doing. She still does that. They have different personalities and different interests. Yet, they are always willing to play each other's games. Hannah never touched the play kitchen until Olive started playing with it. Now they love to make pretend meals and go on picnics together. Art Museum
Best thing about being a stay-at-home mom: taking the girls to the art museum on a beautiful random Wednesday. They were very well behaved. We talked about art. It was perfect.

Rainy Day
Hannah's new rain gear from her birthday
Nah, she doesn't pose once she sees a camera AT ALL.
Those legs have stretched out since last year!

Aviation Day
Hannah's soccer game was canceled on a rainy Saturday. She was super bummed. We went to Aviation Day instead, which surprisingly was not canceled. They had free lunch, airplane flyovers, the opportunity to see planes and helicopters up close.

Deanna Rose
Our first trip to Deanna Rose this season! We went with a teacher friend who is currently on maternity leave. She has a daughter a few months younger than Olive and a 2 month old son.
Olive with Olive the cow
They had lots of new things, like these horses. Hannah is a little more excited about them than Olive...
Olive gets braver and braver as she gets older. This is her first time enjoying the goats instead of running and crying. Although, I do admit, the goats get a little scary when they are looking for food. One tried to eat my shoelace!
Olive decided (much to my surprise) that she wanted to ride a horse! It was her first time since you have to be three years old to ride. She was a little nervous at first, but she did it!
Of course, Horse Girl needed a ride, too. Notice that her outfit is coordinated to the occasion.
Another awesome thing about Deanna Rose- free wagons! Hannah loved pulling Olive around.
My only picture with all three girls
Another new thing: blacksmith shop and barber shop.
And new playground equipment, too!
me: Do you know what that is?
Olive: A bucking bronco!!
Hannah: A yak.

Easter
Oh boy, I am behind on blogging. I'll just sneak in these Easter pictures before it's May. :)
Checking to see if our neighbors have eggs in their yard...
I did a scavenger hunt for them around the house. Each clue led to a present. This one was hiding in the washing machine.
One present was an egg-dying kit. I have never dyed Easter eggs as an adult. And I only remember doing it one time as a kid. Now I know why my parents only did it once! It was a waaaay more involved project than I thought it would be.
Despite it being a long process, Hannah was super excited about it. She did all the stickers and drawing herself (Olive lost interest after the dying). The animal kit was ADORABLE.
