T-bird Trot

Hannah's school as a two mile fun run called the T-bird Trot (their mascot is a thunderbird).  I'm not sure who was more exited: Hannah or Steve.  They are talking strategy at the start.

Olive played on the playground while Hannah did warm-ups and talked to her friends.

Steve and Hannah ran ahead while I walked and pushed Olive in the stroller.

When we got back to the school I couldn't wait to hear all about the run from Hannah.  Unfortunately I found her in tears and Steve trying to get bandages.  She fell twice and both hands and knees were scraped and bloody.  We went straight home instead of staying for the dinner.  Her first T-bird Trot did not turned out as she hoped. :(  There's always next year...

T-bird Trot

Our third year at the T-bird Trot, and Olive's fist as an official t-bird.  The past two years she has been in a stroller, so I wasn't sure how she would do walking the whole course.  Most of the time she complains about walking to school (5 minutes) and the course is about 1.5 miles.  The plan was for Hannah to run with Steve and I would walk with Olive.  Well, Olive took off running and ran more than half the course!  She ran past boys in her class and even trash talked some parents we didn't know.  I should have known Olive would be unpredictable. :)  We had a great time running, eating some awesome BBQ, and dancing with friends.

T-bird Trot

We had much nicer weather for the T-bird Trot this year (and a much nicer time overall)!  Last year, Hannah fell down (twice) and scraped up both knees and both hands.  This year she made it the whole race without injuries...which is good because she already had a stitched up chin and fractured jaw.  Hannah ran with Steve again while I took Olive in the stroller.  I can't believe next year Olive will be a kindergartener and running on her own.

I didn't get many pictures, but we had a blast.  We ran (walked) about a 2 mile loop and ended up at the school for a BBQ dinner.  They even had a DJ playing music for the event.  I loved watching Hannah dance with her friends.  There *might* be a video which she told me I can't put on the blog.  And so it begins.

Olive's first grade teacher sent me this.  She often chooses reading to her 1st grade teacher's classroom as a reward in 2nd grade.

I am having way too much fun buying baby boy clothes and hats. :)

The girls had two fall sleepovers with the Wilson sisters.  Their favorite activity was "getting fat" in zip up pjs stuffed with blankets.

We had the best doughnuts here!

One time we were making up silly pet names and I joked a funny name would be "It's a Secret." If someone asked your pet's name and you answered "It's a Secret," it would sound like you weren't telling them.  So of course when Steve found a snail and we decided to keep him for a pet the girls named him It's a Secret.

We trained for weeks for the T-bird Trot.  It was a fun family bonding experience.

Trailwood parent game night.  Despite my abilities, I did not do well in the Connect Four tournament.  However, Steve took first place in the ping pong tournament!  He is pictured with his "beard brother" who got 2nd.

Miner weekend fun!

Crazy hair day at school.

Olive's Star of the Week buddy.  We hung out with Paddington over the weekend and she shared pictures with her class.

Hannah's girl scout field trip was to the theater in Crown Center.  He troop learned a song and skit and performed it for parents.
