Hannah Stats- 1 year

Happy first birthday to Hannah!

She is now 22 lbs 13 oz (77th percentile) and 31 inches tall (96th percentile). She has come so far in a year. She gained over 17 lbs and grew a foot. Most babies triple their birth weight by one year and she quadrupled it!

This month she has mostly been working on walking. She is comfortable walking holding on to only one of my hands. She sometimes walks by herself, but usually it is only with coaxing from one of us. We sit away from her while she's standing up at the couch and she races towards us for a hug. She also got one more tooth for a grand total of six. She babbles, but doesn't have many real words. She's pretty consistent about saying "da da" when Steve gets home from work, although she also says "da" when she's excited about anything. "Ma" usually comes out when she is upset and wants to be comforted. We can tell she is understanding things, though. If you say "Let's go read some books!" she goes straight towards the cabinet and starts getting out her books. Looking at books is still her favorite thing to do. She already has her favorites that she wants us to reread again and again. If we start reading a book and she doesn't like it, she pushes it away and looks for a different one.

Pat says Hannah is the most curious baby she's had at daycare and the most daredevil of all of her girls. We've noticed she likes to study things and climb, but it's hard for us to know if those are Hannah characteristics or if all babies do that.
